Raised a tortured Cubs fan within the friendly confines of suburban Chicago, Stu learned to doubt statistical probability from an early age. Despite mountains of data indicating Stu’s academic aptitude stood on the wrong side of the bell curve, he managed to stumble and squeak through degrees at the New School for Social Research in New York and the University of California at Berkeley.

To cope with hair loss, underachievement and repeated failure, Stu embraced wine. Over the years, he’s developed numerous immersive experiences around the winemaking process. Stu takes pride in knowing serious wine scholars deride his approach and have likened his model to that of a kindergarten classroom.

He’s appeared on The Today Show, and his pretension-free wine experiences & materials have received critical praise in Wine Spectator, Food & Wine, Forbes, Men’s Journal, Time and Chicago Tribune.

In his spare time, he collects soul records, dyes fabric, eats tacos and is the worst player in a traveling pinball league.
